Where Germ Meets Terrain: A Herbalist's view of Immunity
Peter will differentiate between traditional, naturopathic and phytotherapeutic approaches to using herbs to support immunity and treat “infection."
During this session Peter will be making the point that equating herbs with pharmacological actions limits the way in which we use them, and is at odds with their fundamental reality as healing agents. Specific herbs will be treated in depth.
Peter Jackson-Main is a Herbalist, Naturopath, Iridologist, lecturer and author. In 1995 he was a founder member and for eleven years Chairman, of the Association of Master Herbalists (AMH), and is now a fellow of the Association, as well as of the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists (International). From 1996 to 2012 he was a council member of the European Herbal and Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association (EHTPA), in which capacity he was closely involved in the development of the UK profession, including the writing of the common core curriculum for UK herbalists, and was a delegate at two out of the three regulatory consultations on herbal medicine hosted by the UK Government Department of Health and the MHRA.
He is currently Course Director for the Herbal Medicine programme at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM UK and Ireland), and in the autumn of 2015 was also appointed the College’s Academic Director. His book, Practical Iridology, published in 2004, is now in its third edition and has been translated into twelve languages. He practises in London.
